Canada’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Jennie Carignan, made her first visit to CFB Shilo on Sept. 16, accompanied by Canadian Armed Forces Chief Warrant Officer (CWO) Bob McCann, for a tour of the 3rd Canadian Division Base.
The visit provided a significant opportunity for the Chief of Defence to engage directly with the leadership and personnel of CFB Shilo and 1 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group (1 CMBG).
The visit focused on assessing the operational readiness, reviewing strategic priorities and discussing the division’s ongoing mission.
General Carignan received a detailed briefing on the current state of 1 CMBG and CFB Shilo, followed by a static display showcasing capabilities.
The visit highlighted Base priorities, displayed ongoing initiatives, and provided the CDS with an accurate and comprehensive understanding of CFB Shilo’s current posture, capabilities, and challenges.
The visit to CFB Shilo reaffirmed the CDS’s commitment to maintaining operational excellence and supporting the dedicated personnel of 3rd Canadian Division.
Additional activities included engagement with the units and a tour of the ammunition depot.
The CAF Command Team rounded off their visit after lunch in the mess with soldiers, heading up a town hall meeting where members and civilian staff could interact directly with the CDS.

Good load the PAO is full of themselves. It's not like the previous CDS's have not visited Shilo before. But for some PAO's anything 10 years and older is ancient history.....sigh.
