The challenge will be security clearances for that equipment and access. If your quartermaster has a criminal record, can they be on the bridge? At night there may only be the Mate and 2 deckhands, with one roving the ship to check for issues, while the rest of the crew sleeps (Not counting the engine room watch)
We had a similar challenge when CCG joined Fisheries, a lot of CCG guys were also fisherman and felt they were being placed in a difficult situation if asked to support fisheries operations against fishing vessels.
What is the role of the Coast Guard College now? RCN AND CG ?
Will there be a definitive separation of a security fleet within the CG? The Yanks do Red Hull for ice, Blue Hull for Navigation, White Hull for enforcement.
Do The midshore fleet of 8, 4207 class vessels get up gunned with MK 38's.
Should there be parts of the 126 Vessel fleet that are designated RCN Auxiliary's ?
Will our Allies and potential adversaries respect this change?
Talk of upgrading CCG equipment and scope to Defence ISR makes me wonder if sub surface surveillance should also be added? 3 ocean Continental submarine survey and monitoring
It will be interesting to see what happens with c-2 and then with the Union. The CCG maintenance and sustianment budget is absolutely abysmal for the ships they are responsible to upkeep. Perhaps some joint basing in the mix? One way to get some heavy icebreakers for the RCN.
I think both the RCN and the CCG think they are getting more resources from the other, when in actual fact they will have now share what little they have.

Indeed. I have a lot of similar questions. Im willing to give some time, and wait for the process to proceed. I do want to write in it though soon.
