Carleton University to Host Discussion on Europe and Canada’s Strategic Response to the Russia–China Axis

Carleton University’s Eastern European and Transatlantic Network (EETN) is hosting an important upcoming event exploring how Europe and Canada are responding to the growing Russia–China partnership. The event, titled “Europe and Canada’s Strategic Response to the Russia–China Axis: De-risking, Defence, and Democratic Cooperation in the Indo-Pacific,” will take place on Monday, November 24, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Held in Room 4050 of the Nicol Building at Carleton’s Ottawa campus, with an option to join virtually via Microsoft Teams, the event brings together leading experts to discuss defence strategy, economic “de-risking,” and democratic cooperation in a shifting global order.
Speakers include Jakub Janda, Director of the European Values Center for Security Policy, and Jonathan Berkshire Miller from the Macdonald-Laurier Institute. Their insights will help shed light on how Western democracies can strengthen collaboration in the Indo-Pacific amid evolving security challenges.
This event is part of Carleton’s ongoing efforts to foster dialogue on global affairs and transatlantic cooperation. Anyone interested in international relations, security, or foreign policy is encouraged to attend.
