Denmark's Greenland Committee to visit Canada.
The Greenland Comittee of Denmark will be making a short trip to Canada this weekend to discuss the Canadian-Danish Indigenous/Security relationship.
While in Canada the committee will visit Iqaluit, the capital of Nunavut, where the committee will meet with local politicians and Inuit organizations and hear about, among other things, the Canadian experience with reconciliation work in relation to indigenous peoples. The committee will also go to the Canadian capital, Ottawa, where the committee will meet with Canadian parliamentarians and government representatives, where the conditions for Inuit in Canada will be on the agenda, but where Greenlandic-Danish-Canadian relations will also be discussed.
While primarily focused on indigenous relations there is a heavy security undertone being used in discussing this trip. Rasmus Jarlov, Chairman of the Defense, Public Security and Emergency Preparedness Committee will also be attending this trip, and seems to have a keen interest in it.
While a member of the Greenland Committee his other role should not be ignored. The full list of delegates includes:
Aaja Chemnitz (IA) (Chairman)
Aki-Matilda Høegh-Dam (N)
Flemming Moller Mortensen (S)
Thorkild Holmboe-Hay (S)
Louise Elholm (V)
Henrik Rejnholt Andersen (M)
Jon Stephensen (UFG)
Anna Falkenberg (SP)
Kenneth Fredslund Petersen (DD)
Rasmus Jarlov (KF)
Brigitte Klintskov Jerkel (KF)
Soren Søndergaard (EL)
Katrine Robsøe (RV)
Sascha Faxe (ALT)
Theres quite a lot of overlap between the Greenoand Committee, Arctic Delegation and Defense, Public Security and Emergency Preparedness Committee so I expect Security and Arctic issues to also be heabily raised. They are scheduled to be here until the 17th, so for the remainder of the weekend at the least.
Similar to my Korean threads I will tey to keep track of everything going on and what is said, if people talk about things that is. I will try my best to keep an eye out and dig for things!
