We are pleased to welcome Christiane Fox as the new Deputy Minister of National Defence.
Deputy Minister Fox joins us at a pivotal time—as we continue to advance multiple, complex priorities including implementing generational defence investments, delivering critical procurement projects, strengthening recruitment and retention, and modernizing and transforming our institution as we navigate an increasingly complex global defence and security environment. Her leadership and experience will be invaluable in sustaining this effort.
Deputy Minister Fox brings a deep strategic perspective and collaborative approach that will greatly enable the success of our strong civilian–military partnership, helping our entire team remain focused and effective in achieving its objectives.
While leadership may change, our shared commitment does not: supporting Defence Team members, strengthening and modernizing our capabilities, and ensuring the highest level of readiness and operational effectiveness of the Canadian Armed Forces remains our focus. We look forward to working closely with Deputy Minister Fox in pursuit of these shared goals.
Please join us in welcoming Deputy Minister Fox to Defence.

I have seen chatter regarding poets and plumbers in the civil service. Plumbers are executives who grew up inside their department are are experts in a field therein; poets move around, promoted on the basis of their bureaucratic skills. Fox appears from her CV to be a poet, couple years per job, then move on. DND needs better, either a policy wonk or even better a procurement wonk.
