Galaxia Secures Federal Support to Accelerate Canada’s Sovereign Space and Defence Capabilities

HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA – February 23, 2026- Galaxia has been identified as a priority investment under the Government of Canada’s Regional Defence Investment Initiative (RDII), delivered by the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), to strengthen domestic defence infrastructure and accelerate innovation across Canada’s space ecosystem. The announcement was made in Halifax by the Honourable Sean Fraser, Minister responsible for ACOA, as part of the federal government’s broader strategy to reinforce Canada’s defence industrial capacity.
The investment supports Canada’s national effort to scale homegrown technologies, secure supply chains, and expand sovereign capability in critical sectors, a direction reinforced last week by The Rt. Hon. Mark Carney, Prime Minister of Canada through the launch of Canada’s first Defence Industrial Strategy.
With this support, Galaxia will accelerate development and deployment of advanced satellite systems and mission platforms designed, built, and operated in Canada. Galaxia continues to expand its engineering, manufacturing, and mission operations capabilities in Halifax, growing its team and infrastructure to meet rising domestic and allied demand.
