Drives me nuts, Airbus does it with new build MRTT. Build and fly a green airframe to immediately disassemble it for conversion. They are literally stripping the airframe down to install structural reinforcement, wiring and other bits and bobs. A lot of time and effort could, be saved a lot if they did it on the FAL.
