Way bigger flight deck than a 1100 Class, and bigger hanger. Frankly Canada should buy 6 more of these helicopters, paint them gray and fly them under the same arrangement as the CCG has, but on the AOP's during domestic patrols and perhaps the Caribbean.

Well, it sure looks like it fits in the hanger better than the cyclone!

Does this mean they might go ahead and install the bear trap on the AOPS? At least the ones for the CCG. Do the Coasties use bear traps on any of their other ships?

NO CCG does not use beartraps and have much smaller weather windows for operations, than DND helicopters. Sometimes if it's to rough to land they will fly to land and wait for a better time to rejoin the ship.

Interesting. Well, maybe it's time they leveled up and added beartraps to their tool box. I imagine it could materially contribute to expanding the weather states that they could conduct search and rescue in, and since that's one of their core responsibilities, it sure feels like a justifiable expense. I'm sure that it would involve a lot of extra training and modifications of the current SOPs, but I hope someone is considering it. Now that they are in with defense, it would be neat if they could make use of RCAF training programs to add new abilities to their tool box.

Looks like a Griffin/412 would fit nicely in that Hanger as well.
