Introducing The Archive

I have always made one thing clear about TNSR, and that is that it is an educational platform forst and foremost.
That might be confusing to those of you who see us primarily as a news site, an inside scoop, or just enjoy the Newsletter. However, my one goal here has always been to try amd educate people to the best of my knowledge, to provide a place where conversation can happen, where people can learn about defence, public policy, our history and industries whether they're new or someone just trying to keep up.
Everyone is welcomed here. Everyone has a forum that they can go to, to question, to research, to enjoy. If that is all I can give to you? Than I am happy. Yet I always want to do more. I want to do more than write, to do the newsletter, to engage on the surface.
Education is lifelong, and as someone who wants to provide you all the material you need to start to educate yourself? Than I need to take steps to provide you all the resources you need and should expect an educator to provide.
This will include things like Glossaries, Project information, maps, technical drawings, schematics, advertising material, and more related to the CAF, Canadian Defence, and Security as a whole.
Right now the Archive is small. The primary focus gor now is on the Cold War and Onward. While the collection will eventually include things from before then I have chosen to focus at this time on everything past 1946. This is the era I find has the least love, and the least publicly-available material.
Right now The Archive already includes:
A Glossary of Common Terms you'll find on the site
Rare technical drawings of the proposed Vancouver-class Frigate
A conceptual drawing of thr proposed CASSEV Corvette of the 90s
Technical drawings of the proposed Zero-Length Launch variant of the Avro Arrow
Proposed Aircraft Carrier concepts from the 1960s
A map outlining Canada’s future fleet
And more stuff is being added by me every day! Soon we will have a section for the Army, which will include things such as material related to the TH-495! That should come this week or esrly next. I have a lot of material already to sort out, which is great but does take a lot of work for one boy.
That is also where you all come in. As part of this I'm putting everyone on notice. I know ill never have the collection of others, nor do I expect it. However I do want to make this as big and amazing as possible! I want something that people really see as a resource, something that documents our history in a way that is accessible to everyone.
So if you think you have material that can benefit the Archive, reach out! Don't be shy! Lets make this a team effort to really make something special. Im not the best dealing with folks like LAC or such. Nor do I like to file ATIP. So there is some muscle required to make this work!
In the meantime, enjoy it! I hope you can all find value in the material we have. Make sure to check back frequently as I really do wanna be updating this thing daily!
