I am still hoping for a Mk 38 with 25mm as o AOPS & at least some modern combat-capable radar (need not be anything big - Girafe would do). The reason I say this is to increase the training & recruitment/attraction value of the platform.
Having modular add-ons like UAS & USV/UUV capabilities would be great for training. Having a platform with an actual weapon system & C4ISR also exposes the crew at all levels to these systems, allowing relvant ship evolutions, tactis/doctrine... & Maintenance training to occur. It would be a great way to lead in to larger platforms like CDC & RCD with less... Re-education required for crews only experienced on FASST-V.
Finally, the recruitment/attraction value of an armed, modern /hi tech vessel is higher than a civilian + vessel. This is the same sort of effect we've seen having the TAPV & G-Wagons side by side at events...
At most the same RWS .50cal system as on the Halifax's. Which I would also fit to the AOP's , along the the Mk 38 to the AOP's So there is system commonality through the fleet.
As for the vessels, KISS principle applies, a vessel that can be maintained at local yards. Have so any equipment (Comms, military sensors and weapons) can be easily dismounted from the vessel for those maintenance periods to reduce security requirements.

Noah, this was great. Thanks for listening to us.
Preceded = Should have Orca Class

I can see SAR as a mission.
SAR has always been an adjunct mission of any government vessel.
