Hey noah, a follow on to Q14.. about the potential load out of 24 vls... doesn't the mission bay also support containerized launchers, like mk70? so the payload could always change.
not inside man. of course it can't. i made a mistake stating the multi mission bay. i meant flight deck. The mk 70 lauchers would have to be bolted there if needed. so the total would change
I think it was a missed opportunity to name the RCD after rivers and not Tribes. The majority of the tribes would love to have a surface ship named after them. While there would be interest to do so with the subs, not as much as a surface ship, which can easily host leaders from that tribe or even visit them in some cases. I did years of consultation with FN, and never once heard a complaint about the Tribal Class Destroyers. In fact they like the war like nature of destroyers.
This stuff is interesting and all. But,with respect Sir, there have been people doing what you do for at least the 30 years I've been paying attention. Informed speculation, suggestions on how to move forward on defence, etc.
Almost none of it happens. Ever. Canadians just don't care. And politicians don't care. Bureaucrats are too risk averse and incompetent. Fun reading, sure, but mostly fantasy. Enjoy your day. 🙂
I don't understand this comment, could you elaborate more on your thinking a little?
The world and Canada are in a much different place today then they were during the 90s, 2000, and 2010s, to the point that it is hard to compare the strategic position. The current strategic outlook for the next 10 years doesn't have the world in a much more stable place.
This is seemingly being acknowledged by our politicians on all sides, the military, defense analysts, defense contractors, and large portions of the general public, even if they don't fully understand it.
Have you not seen the news for like… the past year? Canadian public sentiment supports defence spending, the PM very clearly sees Defence spending as an economic engine, the CAF has signed more contracts for new equipment in the past year than like the past 3 years combined, we’re finally hitting both the NATO 2% target and the NATO 20% on new equipment targets (as confirm by NATO), we have our first Defence Industrial Strategy, recruiting targets are being met across the board for the first time in years, and the government plans to keep building up to 3.5% of GDP.
Is there something I’m missing? Something that says it’s NOT going in a positive direction?

The mission bay is covered and thus Mark 70 cannot be fired from inside of it.

Why are you here bothering to comment? Just trying to bring everyone else down to your level?
Tell me why I'm wrong
Ok, you’re wrong.
