(Paraphrasing) The cited reason is that they wanted "interoperability & to blend in with partner NATO SOF forces..."
Cynical reason is that they want to look like US SOF, & it just so hapens to make them look different & special as compared to the rest of the CAF... God forbid thar CANSOF use the same equipment & uniforms as the regular Army!
My simple question; Why couldn't the rest of the CAF just be given multicam, and called it a day on uniform changes? - I reckon it camouflage just as well as CADPAT MT does, so what gives.
Because CADPAT MT is more precisely adapted to the terrain Canada exoects to fight in, not the terrain the US used to dictate multicam... & it should remain a better performing pattern in the contexts we expect to use it.
& Because it is distinctive. Use Multicam... & CAF soldiers are hard to distinguish from the US. It makes it easier to forget we ever did anything at all. Look at most photos of Canadians in WWII - we look like Brits or Americans, so it is easy for most people to forget that we were ever there, & what we contributed to the war effort...
CANSOFCOM as a whole switched to Multicam.

Canada's Premier counterterrorism unit uses the very multicamthe General dons, too. Why not get them to use CADPAT too?
