Federal investment will help ocean technology firm improve productivity and create jobs
October 19, 2026 · Dartmouth, Nova Scotia · Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA)
Atlantic Canada is building technologies for some of the world’s most challenging environments. Dartmouth’s MetOcean Telematics develops satellite-powered equipment that can locate people lost at sea, track oil spills and detect submarines up to a kilometre below the surface. The company is now consolidating its local operations in an expanded workspace where departments can collaborate and work more efficiently.
Today, Braedon Clark, Member of Parliament for Sackville—Bedford—Preston, announced federal support for MetOcean Telematics Limited to upgrade its Thornhill Drive facility and bring approximately 80 local employees together in one location ($900,000 repayable).
This contribution will support an expansion of the production warehouse, renovations to workspaces and the addition of audio-visual equipment. The project will improve workflow while creating more space for advanced manufacturing and future product development. MetOcean expects the project to create 10 jobs and reduce costs by approximately $600,000 annually.
Today’s announcement further demonstrates the Government of Canada’s commitment to strengthening business productivity and industrial capacity so Canada can compete globally and build greater economic and national security.
The announcement was made on behalf of the Honourable Sean Fraser, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency.

Noah Note: A huge congrats to the MetOcean Team, who are working in some really cool stuff in collaboration with partners like the RCN. I have heard many a great thing about Nika, which has proven itself to be a very capable system for both enviornmental monutoring and defence.
With Rapidly-Deployable sensors coming into fashion, there is significant room for growth in the market for companies like MetOcean to exploit.
