Minister Anand meets with Republic of Korea’s Minister of Foreign Affairs

The Honourable Anita Anand, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met yesterday with Cho Hyun, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, at the United Nations General Assembly in New York City, New York.
As strategic partners in the Indo-Pacific region, the ministers discussed deepening cooperation between Canada and the Republic of Korea on global issues as well as advancing bilateral trade, investment, innovation and defence sector cooperation.
Minister Anand highlighted Canada’s ongoing commitment to growing the trade relationship through the Canada-Korea Free Trade Agreement. This agreement is key to the economic diversification objectives of both Canada and the Republic of Korea.
I wish the Federal Government would get on with excepting the South Korean Submarines offer along with the military and industrial package on offer. I truly feel this is the best Submarine for Canada and the package offered is the best economic and military capabilities boost they could possibly get. I feel this dragging out of a full review / competition is not in the best interests of our military, national defense or industrial growth that would accompany the Korean offer. I fear the only hesitancy is political which favors Germany and Carneys push to be a big player in Europe's future rather than to prioritize Canadas National Defense. My thoughts on it anyway. Hope I'm wrong.
