I must say that I'm really, really excited to see these investments in space starting to come down the pipe; I've always felt that with our history, space technology could be a real niche that Canada could drive down into for growth domestically.

But, I'll admit, the one thing I think we're doing incorrectly, is having privately owned spaceports. I firmly believe that the first spaceports should be owned and operated by the government. Why? governments own airports for a reason, we should run the spaceports too. It provides fair access for all the rocket companies to use the same standardized infrastructure, it's one less thing that the space companies need to focus on when their primary focus should be on launch vehicles; and because Space X started by using NASA public infrastructure. The Spaceport is to Space as Airports are to the Air; and I believe it's the government's responsibility to provide the basic infrastructure, not rely on a private corporation who can monopolize that capability and shut out competition.

Regardless, this is a really exciting announcement, and i'm stoked to see more money going into the space industry. I really think MDA should get into the rock game and become vertically integrated like SpaceX.
