I know at least five people who are gonna be dusting off their medium cavalry concepts in anticipation. I wish I had more to share lol.
We gotta make sure OMCV doesn’t get out into the public space though. We’ve got enough arguing between people. We don’t need to throw any ideas about tracked IFV out there into the wild. 🤣
I really hope that if we do go with KSS for CPSP that there is a wider discussion on other Korean systems. I see no logical reason why we wouldn’t at least entertain them on Tanks, IFV’s, and Trainer Aircraft. If we cannot get spare parts to utilize 14 Leopards is there any point continuing down that road in all seriousness.
Methinks the Korean government would absolutely love to have additional manufacturing capacity far from the Korean Peninsula and Europe for their systems and would gladly open up IP to us. I think even the Poles who are all over it in Europe would love it.
I read a quick comment that someone made in passing that suggested if any further layoffs or auto plant closures occur that it would be ripe to retrain the workforce and start production of defence systems. It might be time for a National Armoured Procurement strategy 😉 a la NSPS with continuous orders and development we can even wrap GD into it.
I’d be curious to know if they’re able to make the Chunmoo into a single pod. It’s great market and industry we can cooperate with tech transfers readily available and IP very accessible. One can argue, from the doomer posts last week about canceling the F-35, we could join the KF-21 program and open up future cooperation in that project while also building local supply chains and industrial base (not as a replacement but as a force multiplier). Last heard that Indonesia isn’t really participating well enough as a partner.
They have a smaller version of Chunmoo, but AFAIK it’s only a concept. No idea how it might fit into our demands. There certainly is a big want for a lot more in both sides.
Indonesia legit ghosted them on the money, and got sensitive info leaked lol.
That’s what I’m saying, especially if we’re gonna go super crazy on being less reliant on US systems and components, Korea is there for the taking when it already has an unreliable partner.
With KF-21 partnership, we could build more fighters (and regain a lost capacity in our aerospace industry) and they’d be home built. Jeez now I’m sounding like that Gripen Fiend on Twitter. But I’m all crazy already into the KF-21 its future proof program that’ll be in service for decades like the Lightning not to mention they can complement each other well.
Export, I can think of one other country that would love and need some new fighters currently 🇺🇦.
Any public concepts or papers you cam direct me towards? I'd like to read up what actually exists in the space already.
Here are two from line of sight, a very wonderful resource if you love technical discussion:

I would have to go through my collection of files to find what else I have lol. Lord knows I’m disorganized as hell.
Tanks and medium cav? Don't give me hope. 😢

Is the mid shore multi mission vessel a replacement for the Kingston?
Coast Guard vessel
Ahhh seen

K2 Black Panthers for Canadian service 😱
Oh it gets so much more than this lol
