Secretary of State (Defence Procurement) Stephen Fuhr meets with German officials
Stephen Fuhr, Secretary of State (Defence Procurement) released the following statement after meeting with German officials and delegates from TKMS:
"Canada and Germany share a deep commitment to transatlantic security, and collaboration between our defence industries is vital to building a safer, more prosperous future.”
“In my meeting with Ambassador Lüttenberg, State Secretary Jens Plötner, and the delegation from Germany's Ministry of Defence and TKMS, we discussed opportunities to enhance collaboration on defence procurements that could leverage our capabilities to create new opportunities for Canadian industry and workers.”
As I said just the other day, expect to see a lot more of these kinds of meetings and such happening for the next few weeks as CPSP draws closer to a contract award. You'll see various levels of officials meeting together.
I say this because some people questioned why Ambassador Philippe Lafortune meeting with Hyundai officials was important. I thought it was strange. Of course the Ambassador would be one of the key people to meet officials. It is quite literally part of his job.
He will go, take a look, speak to officials and report back. Various officials will be meeting with their German and Korean counterparts, and Industry, as part of this process. Not all of them will be a Minister, nor should it be expected that a Minister will be the one to meet with everyone.
Anywho, as I said yesterday expect a lot more of these. I expect we will see a lot of Ministers and, of course, Secretary of State Fuhr will meet with Korean officials next month. I also expect that we will see Deputy Minister Stefanie Beck in Germany again at some point soon.

My brain automatically changed Fuhr to "Fuhrer meets German Officials"
sorry I will go crawl back under my rock now.
