Secretary of State Fuhr visits Norway and Germany to strengthen defence partnerships and advance industry engagement

December 15, 2025 - Ottawa, Ontario
Today, the Honourable Stephen Fuhr, Secretary of State (Defence Procurement), announced he is travelling to Norway and Germany, from December 15 to 19, 2025, to advance Canada’s defence relationships with key allies and promote defence industrial partnerships that support collective security and resilience.
During this official visit, Secretary of State Fuhr is meeting with senior government and military officials, including State Secretary Marte Gerhardsen of the Norwegian Ministry of Defence, Dr. Nils Schmid, Parliamentary State Secretary at the German Ministry of Defence, as well as the heads of both navies.
Secretary of State Fuhr is also participating in site visits and undertaking industry engagement with leading defence organizations in Norway and Germany, including Haakonsvern Naval Base, Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace, Naval Training Centre Eckernförde, TKMS, Rheinmetall (Nordic and Germany), Nammo and Lufthansa Technik. The meetings present an opportunity to discuss strategies for industrial cooperation, innovation and to further integrate Canadian and European defence supply chains.
This visit underscores Canada’s commitment to deepening partnerships with allies that share our priorities and values. By working closely with Norway and Germany, countries renowned for their defence expertise and innovation, Canada is fostering relationships that will create more opportunities for Canadian industry to contribute to our collective security and resilience in an increasingly complex global environment.
The Secretary of State’s schedule also highlights Canada’s new Defence Investment Agency (DIA), which is accelerating and streamlining defence procurements, supporting Canadian industry, and fostering collaboration with international partners. The DIA’s mandate includes engaging industry earlier in the procurement process, supporting innovation and aligning procurement strategies with allied nations to deliver new capabilities to the Canadian Armed Forces faster. Through these engagements, Canada is demonstrating leadership in building resilient defence industrial partnerships, supported by the DIA, that strengthen our alliances but also create opportunities for Canadian industry to innovate and compete globally.

Noah Note: Secretary Fuhr continues to be sent across the planet. He truly doesnt get time off it seems. Two big announcements and a European trip all in one week! Of course as CPSP heats up expect him to be a focal sight between both GERNOR and Korea, along with Deputy Minister Beck.
Secretary Fuhr is supposed to be visiting Korea next week. He was suppose to go last month, however it seemingly got rescheduled. There is a lot of pressure right now on CPSP to not only deliver but be used as a catalyst to a larger economic deal between the winning side.
So there is going to be a lot more of these back and forth visits over the next few months, to the point I will say don't read in to the amount of trips as some indicator. Neither should you read on exchanges as some sort of massive indicator. All of these are part of the process.

There will be no big CPSP post. There will be several, and perhaps once I'm done I'll compile it into an E-Book. 🤣
I vastly underestimated how much I would want to write. I also underestimated how much details I would need to go into, and how much research that would entail. Ill have to write the story one day, but you guys would not believe the lengths I have had to go through to get some information.
I will have another sub post soon. That one will be very long itself. It'll be about maintenence though, so highly specific. It and the two munitions posts would likely get to 20,000 words alone... so yeah, no longer feasible to do a substack with all of it lololol.
Also, you might have missed but I did talk about the munitions of the Type212CD!

I hope they choose the 212cds but need to jump on the tyrfing for it. We must have long range strike. I just think the 212cds is more advanced & quieter.
