Statement from Vic Fedeli, Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade on the Canadian Patrol Submarine Project

Ontario welcomes the federal government's decision to name ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) as the preferred supplier for the Canadian Patrol Submarine Project (CPSP). This project is a generational opportunity that is expected to add tens of billions of dollars to Canada's economy over the coming decades through maintenance, repair, overhaul, training, infrastructure, and broader supply chains.
Since the procurement process was first launched, Ontario has taken decisive action to position our world- class companies. workers, and supply chains at the centre of this landmark project. Last fall, the province hosted a TKMS Supplier Day with more than 50 Ontario companies and organizations, followed by a visit to TKMS's submarine facility in Kiel. Germany to further strengthen Ontario's role as a trusted partner.
To date, TKMS has established partnerships with several Ontario companies and institutions including Gastops. Magellan Aerospace, Cohere, EllisDon, and Western University, which will create new opportunities across Ontario's steel, shipbuilding, auto, aerospace, Al, and advanced manufacturing sectors. To deliver on Ontario's Defence Industrial Strategy, we look forward to continuing to support TKMS and this generational project for the Royal Canadian Navy.
