TORONTO, Sept. 14, 2026 /CNW/ -- TD Bank Group (TD or the Bank) today announced a five-year, $150 billion commitment to drive new lending, underwriting, advisory and other financing activities and accelerate investment, growth and innovation across sectors critical to Canada’s economic future.
In its recent report, Triggering a Canadian Investment Supercycle, TD Economics estimates that $1 trillion in new investments across more than 300 projects are already approved or on the table through 2035 across five key sectors of the economy. With strong policy action, the report estimates the potential for an even broader investment cycle of up to $1.7 trillion.

TD’s commitment focuses on five key sectors, aligned with the opportunities identified in the TD Economics report:
Energy, including clean and conventional energy, grid and energy infrastructure, storage and related services
Critical minerals and resources, including exploration and extraction, processing and refining, related equipment and services
Defence and aerospace, including naval, aerospace supply chains, cyber-defence capabilities and dual-use technologies with defence applications
Digital and AI, including AI innovation and commercialization, cloud infrastructure, secure digital networks and new frontier technologies
Infrastructure, including ports and trade corridors, railways and high-speed rail, roads, bridges and related infrastructure services
Accelerating the investment supercycle
TD has a strong track record in the priority sectors and will continue investing in dedicated talent, specialized expertise and new capabilities to deepen its support of clients and opportunities across these sectors. TD will bring together expertise from across the Bank to identify opportunities, advise clients, and accelerate investment. Through new lending, underwriting, advisory and other financing activities, TD will directly support initiatives and businesses central to the investment supercycle and publicly update on its progress.
Building the foundation for long-term prosperity
TD’s efforts will also further sharpen its focus on enhancing economic participation to strengthen long-term growth, including:

Noah Note: Another one. Follows Scotiabank and CIBC in commiting investment capital ahead of the Canada Investment Summit. How much of this translates into defence is yet to be seen. It's best to remember, even among the big six, that Defence has still been seen as a bit of a negative when it comes to association.
Even among major startups, the amount of people debanked by the big six this year is staggering. It's still a trend, one that goes counter this sudden desire to highlight potential defence investment. You can't support industry at the same time locking individuals out of the system.
So pardon me if I remain skeptical and awatit proof that banks are willing to support the Defence Industrial Base at significant scale. The DSRB is a great step, and the support the major banks have given was critical to its broader support, but it's a lot of promises and not so much action.
If it can at least help industry expand production lines, that is a big win!!!
