Hello everyone!
I hope you are doing well. I wanted to take a moment to wish all of you a wonderful Thanksgiving today, and to take a moment to discuss some things.
Today is a very important day for many of us, and I won’t take too much time from your day here. I am, admittedly, not good with holiday messages. They ain’t my thing. I did want to share a moment of appreciation for all of you.
It has been a major year for us here. We got our first sponsor, we crossed 1,500 subscribers, and, most of all, we recently transitioned to doing this full-time. I have had the opportunity to go to Korea and Sweden, and to engage with so many wonderful people that I wouldn’t have met otherwise.
It has been the busiest year of my life, and still I don’t know how to view it all. It feels... fantastical, in a way, to go from what was a simple hobby to what is now my full-time career. I have hosted events, sat with two CRCNs, been an educator, spoken to more than seven dozen companies in the last year, and I still feel like it is only the beginning!
None of that would be possible without the support I have gotten across the spectrum to keep going, from my wife, my family, my mentors in the field, and all of you. For that, I am eternally grateful. You do not have to continue to support me. You did not have to put your faith in me. You did not need to support me as hard and as deeply as you all have.
I am still amazed to see it. I am still amazed by all the people who seem to know me, and by all the people who reach out to me on the daily just to share their appreciation for the work we do. I do believe we are not yet in the place we need to be. I do not believe we are done growing — far from it.
There is still so much I don’t know, so much left to learn, so many things left to do. I am, at the end of the day, still someone who is “new” to things, especially as I look out at our audience and see all the skilled people: the engineers, the startups, the students, the CEOs, the officials, and the innovators.
We have such a wonderful, diverse community stretching from all four corners of the globe. It is emotional for me to see, and truly, I thank you all for being part of this journey with me, for holding me up through it all, and for continuing to support me in all that we do. You have all done more than I could ever ask of you, and then some.
To give some updates: we will be hosting our end-of-the-year survey starting in November and running to the beginning of December. We will also have our TNSR Update in mid-December. I am hopeful we will have some great things to announce.
There will be no newsletter today due to the holiday. We will have the Q&A, which I apologize for being delayed. It is also my wife’s birthday, so we have two celebrations going on today! I again hope that you can all find comfort today in yourselves and your loved ones. I love you all.
