For the big announcement that some might view as comparable to the CPSP, I’m calling it now: True North Strategic Review merch!

I’m calling it right now: Canada becomes a full partner in GCAP and completely foregoes the Gripen. The split-buy compromise with Saab is dead. Operating a mixed 4.5 and 5th-gen fleet makes zero logistical or financial sense for the RCAF long-term. If the Carney government is serious about "Trump-proofing" our procurement and hitting that aggressive 2035 defense spending target, we need a future-proof leap. .Buying the full F-35 order secures the Arctic baseline for the immediate future, while a Tier-1 buy-in on the Tempest gives Canadian aerospace real sovereign IP instead of just buying an off-the-shelf foreign jet. A massive, unannounced 6th-gen partnership fits the "near or equal to Submarines" rumor perfectly. Let's see if Ankara or Farnborough proves me right!

Likely just announcing the Observer role in GCAP. While the Government has already probably decided that's the way to go, it will take serious convincing for the Japanese government to risk entering new suppliers that could effect its already strained timelines for fighter production, not to mention all three Countries involved would have to agree to give up some of their own economic benefit split to allow Canada to be part of it. Canada will also hold the Gripen-e card as long as possible until CUSMA is finalized.

Noah…. you’re a machine. My brain is still recalibrating from the CPSP decision and now you’re teasing a new big announcement. By the way I appreciated you sharing your thoughts on the sub decision so quickly and providing some context to help me make sense out of it all. Honestly I’m glad the decision is in and we can all move on. I’m already wondering about the new mystery announcement. Mmmm…. what could it be ?????

Why is it? on the last article for the Statement from Hanwa after loss did it not let me comment unless I had a paid subscription? Please tell me this isn't the direction TNSN is going.

No. Substack actually defaults to paid only on everything, so every post I have to click it off. I guess I forgot that one to do it lolololol

Is that an award of LUV in 2027 or a preferred bidder downselect?
