TKMS and University of British Columbia: A Strategic Alliance for Canadian Innovation

TKMS is advancing the development of the Canadian Defence and Dual-Use Innovation Ecosystem (CDDE) and has formalized its collaboration with the University of British Columbia (UBC) through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), in the framework of the Canadian Patrol Submarine Project (CPSP).
Recognizing the strategic importance of Canada’s submarine program and the long-term industrial capabilities required to sustain it, TKMS and UBC share a strong ambition: to establish a Defence Innovation Hub in Canada that bridges academic excellence and industrial leadership.
Focus areas will include:
marine systems
AI applications
green energy
advanced manufacturing,
and related dual-use innovation domains.
By aligning research with industry priorities, TKMS and UBC are strengthening Canada’s innovation ecosystem, thus fostering talent development, accelerating commercialization pathways for Canadian SMEs and start-ups, and reinforcing national sovereignty and long-term economic growth.
