Ultra Maritime Delivers New Innovation in Hybrid Anti-Submarine Warfare Capabilities with Sea Tracker to DRDC

Dartmouth, NS — Ultra Maritime proudly announces a significant advancement in hybrid anti-submarine warfare (ASW) innovation for allied navies with the contract award of Sea Tracker – a modular, containerized submarine detection capability. Sea Tracker delivers frigate-grade ASW performance in a standardized 20-foot ISO container. It is designed for uncrewed and non-traditionally crewed platforms, dramatically increasing preparedness and situational awareness in complex maritime environments.
Sea Tracker’s scalable architecture enables the seamless integration of Ultra Maritime’s full suite of towed technologies, including torpedo defense systems, inline active/passive, and strategic surveillance arrays. This system-of-systems capability enables a rapidly deployable containerized asset, allowing navies the ability to classify, track and prosecute the stealthiest submarines in all areas of operation.
Through the collaboration and support of the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) and COVE, Ultra Maritime is providing this modular solution to the Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC) for the experimentation and development of next-generation ASW concepts. These partnerships underscore a shared commitment to innovation, conceptual and tactical development for the purpose of maritime defense excellence.
With continued investment in advanced technologies, Ultra Maritime remains dedicated to delivering best-in-class solutions that provide navies with the agility, adaptability and strategic advantage needed to dominate the underwater domain.
Noah Note: Sea Tracker is the official name for Uktra Maritime’s Misson Pod system. Those of you who have followed me for a while might remember it. It's a pretty cool system, integrating multiple possible payloads from Ultra Maritime into a single 20ft container including:
Sea Lancer Low Frequency Active and Passive Variable Depth Sonar
Sea Sabre Low Frequency Active & Passive Sonar
S2170 SSTD Torpedo Defence System
Sea Spear Wide-Aperture Array
All integrated into a single system. Sea Tracker is one of the leading candidates of the Containerized On-Board Relay Array (COBRA) project. Canada is the leading country for Containerized Array systems, being home to multiple manufacturers and options for us.
Along with Ultra we also have Geospectrum with TRAPS and GDMS-C with a containerized variant of their Towed Low Frequency Active Passive Sonar (TLFAS) that is currently being installed on the Halifax-class as part of the Underwater Warfare Suite Upgrade (UWSU) project.
All have some hostory or relation to the Royal Canadian navy. Ultra is the prime contractor for the future River-class destroyers underwater warfare suite, GDMS-C is the current prime for the Halifax, and Geospectrum has long been a parter to DRDC and the RCN with TRAPS having a long history of testing and collaborative development eith thr Government of Canada.
All systems bring their own unique set of capabilities, something that I plan to tackle in the near-fututre. For now I am eagerly awaiting to hear about how these trials go. Its a cool system, but still unproven in itself.
