Mississauga Mayor Carolyn Parrish provided the following update, and accompanying video regarding Mississaugas side quest to acquire an Avro Arrow replica. We also got a brand new, official unveiling date:
“Our Avro Arrow replica has arrived! So proud to join crews, constructor Andrew O'Connor, and residents like 'Arrow Head' Dean to witness its unloading/assembling. The official unveiling is set for Aug 31 in Paul Coffey Park.”

Should have kept it full size. 78% is still a large difference. Sad Deifenbacher ordered all originals destroyed with no fully assembled one going to museums.
There were difficult decisions made to build the 78%er. It’ll be great for the Arrow’s home town to have the replica. I hope it will instil young folks in the old Malton area to pick up the torch and rebuild that industry. A step up from the Costco, Walmart and Amazon “opportunities” of that region now. Even back then ( I was there, I saw her fly, zoom. Even young girls of the ‘50s were taken by the Arrow. Do young female tweeners and teenagers give presentations on fighter jet specifications at your schools today? As a young boy, they were my first loves, because they were with it!) To see it fly! I wish all of you here could. Hopefully the flying replica out of Calgary will succeed and light the flames of today’s young people.
