Where was Mr. Fuhr today? (03/10/25)
It has come to my attention that many of you have taken a but if a giggle to me posting about where our Secretary of State (Defence Procurement) is at any given time.
If theres one thing Mr. Fuhr is it's social. Since he's been appointing thr go-to man for all things Defence Procurement, our glorious, cheery Secretary of State has been regularly posting, almost daily, about where he is and what he's doing.
And oh boy, has he been active. Almost everyday Mr. Fuhr seems to in a new place meeting with just about every company you could think of. He is certainly a very active man, going from coast to coast to coast seemingly nonstop the last several months.
As someone who embraces the silly, and who is always aiming to please his audience I have decided, on a whim, to start a new little series where we take track of where Mr. Fuhr is and what he's doing. He's already highly active on social media, might as well share it around with all of you.
So, welcome to our inaugural edition of Where was Mr. Fuhr today?
He was in Montreal, touring around both MDA and Bombardier. Both Mr. Fuhr and MDA released statements about these visits!
Mr. Fuhr
“Today in Montreal, I had the opportunity to visit MDA Space and Bombardier-two world-class Canadian companies with a strong presence in the defence sector that are driving innovation, creating high-quality jobs, and strengthening our economy.
With the launch of the Defence Investment Agency, we'll be turning even more to our industry to get the Canadian Armed Forces what they need. By leveraging our domestic industry, we can equip our troops and position Canada to help our allies meet their evolving security challenges as well.”
MDA
Today, we were honoured to welcome Minister Stephen Fuhr PC MP CD to our MDA Space advanced satellite manufacturing facility in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Quebec, and to thank and congratulate the Government of Canada for the creation of Canada's new Defence Investment Agency. This critical step is a strong and positive signal to industry of intent, speed and investment.
As a Canadian-headquartered company and a long-time trusted mission partner to the Canadian Armed Forces | Forces armées canadiennes and our allied partners, we share the weight of the moment we face. This is a hinge moment - one that we believe we can contribute to in order to ensure that the CAF has the capabilities, tools, and resources they need to do the critical work necessary on behalf of Canadians.
We also recognize that if we think differently, act with urgency, and leverage the whole of Canada's incredible industrial capabilities, we will not only meet this moment but set the foundation for a strong and free future - as every Canadian generation has done before us.
On behalf of all of us at MDA Space, we are mission ready.
Is this a bit silly? Maybe. However we also have a googly-eyed mascot called Greg, and my profile picture still has cat ears. This should surprise none of you.
It is good when someone of such importance is open though, and it's good that Mr. Fuhr is being fairly outgoing about what he is doing, both in his social media and his willingness to take plenty of casual interviews.
At a time when we are preparing to launch both a new centralized procurement agency and a defence Industrial Strategy, having the man who is primarily in charge of that file be open-ended on who he is meeting and what he is doing is welcomed for someone like me, who is used to having to chase down this information, if its even out there at all.
So as long as Mr. Fuhr continues to share his days online, I shall do my job and make sure you all get to enjoy his trips too!
