Qualification spans uncrewed and Counter-UAS systems, C2, data, electronic warfare and cyber, systems integration, testing and experimentation
OTTAWA, ON — September 9, 2026 — Zighra Inc., a Canadian defence AI company, today announced that it has qualified across all five streams of Canada’s Defence Drone Initiative (DDI) Marketplace.
The five DDI Marketplace streams encompass:
Uncrewed and Counter-Uncrewed Systems
Command and Control, Communications, Data, Electronic Warfare and Cyber
Systems Integration
Testing, Evaluation and Training
Innovation and Experimentation
For Zighra, qualification across all five streams reflects the increasingly integrated nature of modern uncrewed and Counter-UAS operations, where sensing, spectrum awareness, communications, AI, autonomy and operational context increasingly need to work together.
“The significance for us is not simply the number of streams,” said Deepak Dutt, Founder and CEO of Zighra. “Modern uncrewed and Counter-UAS operations increasingly bring together capabilities from multiple systems and suppliers. The challenge is turning those observations into understanding — and understanding into timely decisions.”
Zighra develops Canadian-owned technologies spanning behavioural intelligence, passive RF sensing, multi-sensor fusion, electromagnetic spectrum awareness and resilient positioning, navigation and timing (PNT). Its technologies have been tested through engagements with Canadian federal and defence organizations, including the Canadian Armed Forces and Canadian Coast Guard.
Participation across all five DDI streams provides Zighra with another mechanism to contribute these capabilities while collaborating with Canadian companies developing complementary technologies across platforms, sensors, communications, electronic warfare, autonomy and systems integration.
“Qualification gets us onto the field,” said Dutt. “What we build, integrate and operationalize together is what will ultimately matter.”
Zighra looks forward to working with the Canadian Armed Forces, Canadian Coast Guard and Canadian industry as the DDI progresses from marketplace qualification toward experimentation, integration and operational capability.

Noah Note: I love to see one of my Sponsors succeed, especially one that I know has some reslly awesome and exciting things coming. Deepak is a very humble guy, and his assessment of this is the first step in a long process is one that does need repeating. This isn't a contract, isn't a sign that something is coming. It is the first stage of what will be a very exciting but competitive process.
I can't reveal all of what they are doing. I wish I could, because I know it would really speak to a lot of you and be really exciting. That comes in due time, but I am very happy to see them get love here.
