ADM(Mat) provides update on the Cormorant Mid-Life Upgrade (CMLU) project
Project Update

ADM(Mat) has released the following statement, as well as accompanying photo, regarding the status of the Cormorant Mid-Life Upgrade (CMLU) project:
“On September 29, 2025, the Cormorant Mid-Life Upgrade (CMLU) project reached an important milestone as aircraft production began at IMP Aerospace in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
IMP Aerospace, a subcontractor to Leonardo UK Ltd, will upgrade 13 of the 16 CH-149 Cormorant aircraft, ensuring this vital fleet continues to provide life-saving search and rescue services to Canadians for years to come.
The project will sustain operations in Comox, Gander, and Greenwood, while re-establishing the Cormorant SAR capability in Trenton, Ontario, a major step forward for the Canadian Armed Forces and Canada's aerospace industry.
This milestone also highlights the strong collaboration between Canada and the United Kingdom, whose coordinated efforts ensured the successful transportation and delivery of the first airframe (CH149924) to the Canadian production line.”

Cool. Now let’s replace our cyclones with new build EH 101’s from the UK like what Norway just committed to!!!
Why only 13 of the 16 Cormorant fleet being modernized?
