Announcements coincide with the official visit of Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre to Ottawa, advancing Canada–Norway’s defence and security partnership, and will bolster sovereign industrial capabilities from deep sea to space.
OTTAWA, ONTARIO – September 21, 2026 – KONGSBERG Canada today announced an expansion of its Canadian industrial presence across the space and defence sectors, marked by the execution of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with MDA Space Ltd. and a strategic Letter of Intent (LOI) with Telesat LEO ULC, a subsidiary of Telesat Corporation (Nasdaq and TSX: TSAT).
These agreements coincide with the official visit of Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre to Ottawa, reflecting the deepening strategic alliance between Canada and Norway following the bilateral Strategic Cooperation Agreement signed earlier this year.
Under these strategic agreements, KONGSBERG is establishing dedicated partnerships with premier Canadian space leaders to strengthen technical cooperation and sovereign communications.
MOU with MDA Space Ltd.: Establishes a collaborative framework between KONGSBERG and MDA Space Ltd. to explore joint space and defence projects and technical cooperation in a variety of domains.
LOI with Telesat LEO ULC: Establishes a strategic intent to leverage and evaluate the integration of the Telesat Lightspeed low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite network into KONGSBERG defence platforms and solution architectures.
This cooperation would support the delivery of secure, resilient, low-latency military connectivity for Norway, Canada and their allies. As founding NATO allies and fellow Arctic Council nations, Canada and Norway share an enduring commitment to democracy, the rule of law, and the collective security of the High North.

Noah Note: The official word from last nights announcements. Not much here that's different from what was said yesterday, but still importent to make note. Kongsberg is notably on a bit of a hot streak the last year here, not only through CPSP either.
When it comes Naval-wise, no one has had the success of Kongsberg this year, with two major contracts (CPSP & MSMM) under their belts, an upcoming Corvette competition they're likely to get involved in, continued progress of the Digital Aerodrome Air Traffic Services (DAATS) program, a new sale of JSM to the RCAF, and best of all not having to worry about their very existence being baggage.
If anyone is a winner this year, it really is looking like Kongsberg is on top of that list. Of course, the company itself has been fairly quiet on their expansion plans coming out of CPSP. What they're thinking beyond what's already been announced I don't know.
The expectation is that for defence, Kongsberg will lead on the Norwegian front of things, along with Nanmo whom are already supporting the establishment of a new M72 line with Magellan. Those two are kinda the major players expected, more Kongsberg given them and their 10,000 subsidiary can basically slot themselves in anywhere.
Either way it's an exciting time, and I am always happy to see companies come together like this.
