I wonder if some of projects will be sped up now Trump is showing maps of Greenland, Venezuela and CANADA with the US flag imposed over our territory again. Seems his dementia has swung his ire back or way again, or his plans never really changed.
Definable interested in a Radar comparison, my reading on it is that the spy-7 is a more powerful radar meaning a 12x12 spy/7 array is equivalent to a 14×14 spy-6 etc.. and the spy 7 has built-in targeting where spy 6 does not, or something like that. Will have to research it again to know for sure.
Probably just a brain blip with Armoured Personnel Carrier versus Armoured Fighting Vehicle (happens to us all), but for the sake of clarity, armoured fighting vehicle is a catch all category. Tanks, IFVs, APCs, IMVs, SPGs, and so on and so forth - all AFVs. The differentiating factor between IFVs and APCs is the armament and intended role, so the definition gets muddy. Typically if it has an enclosed turret, autocannon, and carries dismounts, it's probably an IFV. ACSV? APC. LAV 6? IFV.
I honestly feel like the people who prefer to use AFV do it just because they don't wanna call it an IFV like its sone sort of holy word. At least ky experience when I see it used. But yeah, you hit the nail on the head.
To quote "Time will tell there. Uplift is actually supposed to award a contract this year. The rumor is that the Raytheon Skyhunter will take it. That was in yesterday's newsletter actually!"
This is so wrong. A former high ranking CDN Army officer now working there, is trying to influence the process through his old buddy network. The RFP for each of the GBAD phases will be competitive. The Minister may override TBS and PSPC's policies and sole source it but that would be a rare move. Yes the Skyhunter is a good system and some people in the Army want it, but they have to prove it through an open and fair competition with other equally as good systems.
LAV 6 ISC with the 25mm turret is most certainly a wheeled IFV (from a technical perspective perspective). You can find my Twitter threads on it for more info...
Doctrinally, when we use a LAV6 on something like a hasty attack, we are using it as an IFV.... Unless the commander on the ground decides otherwise ("the situation will dictate").
ACSV Troop Carrying Vehicle (TCV) is what a LAV 6 APC looks like.
Noah, yes please on an article for question 5!
I second that

Ukraine is on the front line of democracy. Rather than putting the M777’s into storage if Ukraine wants them we should donate as many as they need.
