While I love the Chinook, and what it can do, the best airframe for flying into severe arctic weather conditions is the Cormorant. Between us (Matt From 103 on YouTube) and the Norwegians with their SAR Queen, I feel the sensible option is to base a few up in the North. They’ve already proven they can do Arctic SAR missions. I think Chinooks are great for tactical lift, but do not have same all-weather pedigree that the Cormorants have. Trenton is getting some, however would like to see some based in Yellowknife and Iqaluit. We regularly deploy the Cormorant as a SAR asset to Pituffik during BOXTOP and NOBLE DEFENDER.

Q10- " We don't need a LAV for the Defence of Canada. " Then we don't need LAV's at all by your logic ? , if we don't need something for the Defence of Canada then we don't need it FULL STOP. I 100 % disagree with you on this , i think we do need LAV's for the Defence of Canada . In fact we need everything from bayonets right up to Nukes to defend Canada and any one who thinks other wise is living in a dream world .
