New Look at Davies 120 Corvette

Sometimes the world surprises you from the most unlikely sources. The Finnish Embassy in Australia has given us our first good look at the 120 Corvette from Davies.
For those who don't know, thr Indo-Pacific International Maritime Exposition takes place from November 4-6, 2025, at the International Convention Centre Sydney, in New South Wales Australia.
Several Caandian delegates, include CRCN Topshee will be in attendance. That isn't why we're here though. Instead we're here about the Corvette. The Finnish Embassy had been kind enough to promote Finnish industry attending the event, including Helsinki Shipyard.
Its here that we get our newest look at the 120 Corvette, one of a new family of combatants that Davie and Helsinki are proposing. For those who missed it, we saw our first look at this family the other month with the smaller 105 Corvette.
We also got a look at the 120, but not a great one. This one though appears much nicer, and with more details. I have included both for reference either way.
Of course we don't have any actual details on the vessel. We really just have this one image to go off of, however we can make some observations from here. Keep in mind, while it is fairly to say this vessel is likely 120m given the designation nothing has been confirmed.
So, a few observations:
• Very clearly designed with Arctic-operations in mind. You can see the very definitive ice belt and high freeboard in the design. No idea what the Ice-rating for this would be. Also looks like there was some attempt to integrate Low-RCS shaping into the design.
• 16-cell VLS, Bofors 57mm, and 8 NSM launchers. What you would see on a high-end Corvette like this. You can only barely see the Millennium sticking out.
• We get a good look at the mission bay, boat bay, etc. I dont know exactly what the slender bay is for. Take note that everything is enclosed, a purposefully choice for a vessel like this. Everything is limited in exposure. No idea on internals.
• I tend to ignore sensors. Oftentimes they're just for show of concept, and rarely accurate to end product. It does give an idea of what we could see in it. Gives me Thales vibes though.
• Full-sized flight deck it seems. Also a hanger. No way to tell sizing and such, although I assume it's Cyclone compatible for now. That's a toss.
• Aft deck, again no idea on dimensions. There is something there, looks containerish? Hard for me to tell.
I might be missing some minor details here. It is late and the baseball game has me half distracted! If you take note, let me know! I think its very clear this was a Helsinki design.
Very like this builds off the work they did for the Pohjanmaa program, at the least. I dont know what Helsinki submitted as part of that but this aligns. It takes a lot of inspiration from similar Scandinavian and Finnish designs.
Its bigger than what we want, however the navy is open to a larger design if it means more capability is worth that size increase. Its impossible to say on this until we get details.
Sadly we know literally zero on this vessel. All of these are based off my observations of this one photo, so take with some salt! Would love to hear what others think.

I like this complement to the Type 26 Frigate. Given the elevated importance of the Arctic and Far North, a Corvette serves sovereign interests far better than multi-mission ships being proposed elsewhere. I guess we'll see soon enough.
I’m not sure if i actually like the way this is shaping up (personally).
Selfishly, I really want these to be built in Canada, not in Finland, not split between the two; here.
I’m also (kinda) disappointed in the direction of making them Arctic focused as I believe that a corvette could have made for a good export opportunity, but specializing it for Arctic ops drastically reduces that viability.
Lastly, looking through my murky crystal ball, with the proliferation of Air/Surface/subsurface drones, long range missiles, etc. that a corvette with more of a focus on being a defensive screen or picket would be a wise choice to protect the larger ships.
I’m no navy guy though, so what do I know? 😅
