I suspect the leaders of both Germany and SK will make a quick call to say; "We hope you find our submission complete and a clear benefit to Canada and choosing it will strengthen the great ties that already exist between ourselves"
At which point the PM responds: "Thank you, I understand my team is diligently working away reviewing your submission, you understand that I cannot say anymore at this moment, but the value of the ties between us are always on my mind"
Wait, it's another down selection? Not a contract? I hadn't realized that!
Does the contract come after they nail down how all the partners they have signed are going to actually be included? Or is it waiting on final specs? I thought Topshee said they were taking the off the shelf model, even if that meant he had to buy plug adapters for all the crew...
Oh, ok. So the contract is still coming soon. I guess it makes sense, I'm sure there are a lot of details to be ironed out. There are a lot of MOIs and MOUs floating around that need to be nailed down and turned into more detailed agreements once the the winner knows they are going to get the job. And you have mentioned that we will likely substitute some of our own communication systems for the ROK systems, so that will need to be nailed down as well. My heart still skipped a beat when I thought we were going to have to wait much longer for them to start cutting metal...
Financial stuff, timelines, legal, all the dull stuff. Keeping in mind also this is one of the largest singular contracts in Canadian history. Theres gonna be a lot of caution and precuation to make sure its all good
Interesting that the NATO foreign ministers meet in Sweden at the same time the KS3 arrives in Victoria.

All three have done their duty and now we wait.

We downselect next month and then aim for an official contract later this year. Still the nitty-gritty to be negotiated and such.
