Hopefully this is the start of the course change towards continuous production orders that will grow the platform count, create opportunity for incremental generational improvements (e.g. LAV 6.1, 6.2), providing surplus hull count to allow for midlife upgrades without compromising unit readiness, all while keeping the line hot and maintaining a robust and cost competitive supply chain.

The PM also spoke to the government entering into a strategic partnership framework with GDLS. Specifically, he noted they are "long-term, predictable partnerships" that will let (them) work more closely with government to build sovereign capabilities (presumably also referencing the defense industrial base and supply networks). This is hopefully a significant part: "Companies selected for these strategic partnerships commit to investing in research and development." "What happens in return in the government will act as an anchor customer, accelerate approvals, open new doors to export markets." GDLS is the first such strategic partner under the new framework model.

GDLS? I’d prefer something more Canadian like ITPS (since he’s in London). Or go to Rochelle vice GDLS.
