CAF member here. I agree with this package. Even more than a blanket 20%. Lower ranks need a bit more. Long service needs retention focus. Frequent moves should be compensated. Stressed occupations should get recruiting bonuses. There will be some who complain. But I applaud this package. And I think it sets the right tone. They could be far stingier by exempting many of these allowances from pensions.
I echo this sentiment here. It’s a good package, better than I expected. It’s the simple things, like that higher ranks got less pay increase than the lower ranks. There will be folks who grumble, but this is a bonus and compensation package that few outside of the military could ever dream of.
I wonder with the increased pay for Lentus if there could be an appetite for a domops medal? Money is excellent but man, soldiers will move heaven and earth for a bit of tin and a scrap of ribbon haha.
