" There are very heavy rumors that Alberta and the Federal Government will strike a new, major framework agreement on defence, covering multiple topics and Investments." - Military bases In Canada are owned and managed exclusively by the Federal Government through the Department of National Defence. Under the Canadian constitution, national defense is a federal responsibility, and provinces do not own or operate military bases or armed forces. Provinces have no authority over military infrastructure, and His Majesty's Canadian Armed Forces operate as a unified national institution under the Crown with direct Loyalty to the Monarch . I say again All Canadian Forces Bases (CFBs) and stations belong to the federal Crown under the administration of National Defence , the Provinces have nothing to do with it .

So that begs the Question WTF is the Federal Government doing talking about ANYTHING to do with National Defence with a Provincial Government ? Especially one that should be given the Rope and strung up for Treason . This is seriously disturbing but it gets worse .

" Details at the moment are still very much in flux, but at least one thing seems guaranteed, the opening up of Suffield to both private testing and, potentially, private facilities. It is said that the agreement would be 'significant' by some. " - CFB Suffield is where we test ( Including open Air test ) our Chemical and Biological agents ....LET THAT SINK IN for a second....Who in the HELL are these PRIVATE business / company's we are GOING TO ALLOW to Test ....Test what exactly ?? What Private Facilities are we going to ALLOW to open up at CFB Suffield ? Who will have OVER ALL CONTROL of what they are doing / How they are doing it / what Rules and Regulations will they be following ? Who are we allowing into our National Security apparatus ?

There are a lot of things about this that do not add up , nothing here gives me a Warm and Fuzzy . The Provinces have 0 to do with His Majesty's Canadian Armed Forces and have Nothing to to do with National Security . This Federal Government needs to give that Alberta Provincial Government that Bayonet , each one of them should get 12 inches of Cold Steel . I don't think the Federal Government is paying attention and to be honest i think they are going off a cliff here , clear as mud .

Unfortunately, my info on this topic is limited. I am working to get more details from folks, but I have yet to get anything beyond this. I will keep updated though if more comes. The ramifications, potentially, are monumental, but I don't wanna speculate until I know for sure what's being talked about.

Watch your Six on this one buddy , this has got " Bad Scobie Snacks " written all over it . On a side note , i may not agree with some of your opinions but i appreciate everything you do and all the effort you put into covering Canadas Defence and National Security . Cheers.

Settle down Brian, you are taking the separation thing way too seriously. Nor has our Provincial government backed that nonsense. Were you this hyperbolic when Quebec had a referendum? That one was close. The Alberta one will not be close at all. All how do you think that would go over excluding Alberta when it comes to increases defence spending? It would give more grievance hot air to the separatists.

All provinces are seeking to cash in on defence spending. The most important western Canadian RCAF and Army bases are in Alberta. Of course some of that spending will be here. Private companies have all sorts of presence on our bases over the country. As for negotiating with the province, of course they are. The footprint of all bases extends past their boundaries.

Just settle down dude.

" Settle down Brian" - I am calm , i'm Telling you in a cool , calm and collected way that the Alberta Government should be Strung up for Treason as well as any one who support them .

" you are taking the separation thing way too seriously." - Yes Sir i am . Treason should be confronted with Violence .

" Were you this serious when Quebec had a referendum? " - Yes Sir , same go's for them Bloc Quebec Treasonous Scum . Public execution is the only way to deal with such things .

" The Alberta one will not be close at all." - I agree , still does not change that the current Alberta Government should be Strung up .

" All how do you think that would go over excluding Alberta when it comes to increases defence spending? " - With Respect to the Good , true and Loyal Subjects of His Majesty King Charles III in Alberta they seem incapable of controlling their Government and they need to be sorted out . The Federal Crown has allowed this non-sense to continue in Quebec and now its spreading to Alberta . I must be stomped out , you do not reward treason with a " Cookie " , you reward it with the Bayonet .

" It would give more grievance hot air to the separatists. " - Not if they are dead .

" All provinces are seeking to cash in on defence spending " - Military bases In Canada are owned and managed exclusively by the Federal Government through the Department of National Defence.

" The most important western Canadian RCAF and Army bases are in Alberta. " - 100 % agree and they have nothing to do with the Provincial Government .

" Private companies have all sorts of presence on our bases over the country. " - Can you give me some examples of this ? outside of Timmie's , Forbidden Flavours n such of course .

" As for negotiating with the province, of course they are. The footprint of all bases extends past their boundaries. " - So then it would be between the Federal Crown and Private land owners or First Nations . What does The Federal Crown have to discuss with the Provinces in this matter ?

" Just settle down dude. " - I say again , I am calm , i'm Telling you in a cool , calm and collected way that the Alberta Government should be Strung up for Treason as well as any one who support them .

Lockheed Martin has had a physical presence in CFB Wainwright for decades. Who do you think owns and operates the targets? Private corporations in conjunction with CRDC do testing at CFB Suffield regularly.

No Brian, you are not calm. A calm person does not speak of murdering people because they don’t like them or what they are saying. Canada is a parliamentary democracy, you apparently think it is some sort of feudal fiefdom where a feudal lord rules with an iron first.

Brian's avatar

" Lockheed Martin has had a physical presence in CFB Wainwright for decades. Who do you think owns and operates the targets? " - We do , Canadian Soldiers do , iv done it multiple times myself lol . You are correct when you say they are Lockheed Martin Targets . They fly a representative in who runs a 2/3 day Course for the troops who are " Volunteered " to operate and run the moving target system . Lockheed Martin does NOT own any building or property on a CFB anywhere in Canada . Do they rent or lease a warehouse / Shed at Range Control for storage of the moving target system ? Maybe , i do not know if they bring them in or keep them in place but they DO NOT operate them . Once again ALL of this has NOTHING to do with the Provinces , which is the point we are discussing .

" No Brian, you are not calm. " - Once again , i am Calm . If we where Face to Face we would be talking and having a Conversation not yelling at one another ( at least on my end ) .

" A calm person does not speak of murdering people because they don’t like them or what they are saying. " - We are not speaking of Murdering people , we are speaking about Capital Punishment being used against Criminals . Freedom of Speech does not mean Freedom of Action with out Consequences. You may say what ever you like when ever you like , turn that into action which in this case is separatist Sedition and you are now a Rebel and a Traitor. ( I don't mean you specifically i do not know your direct opinion on this matter i am talking about the Separatist )

" Canada is a parliamentary democracy, you apparently think it is some sort of feudal fiefdom where a feudal lord rules with an iron first." - Canada is a parliamentary democracy with a Hereditary Monarchy . The King is our Head of State , The King is the Commander and Chief of His Majesty's Canadian Armed Forces , The King is the Head of Government ( not the head of the Parliamentary leading party , that would be the PM ). When an Immigrant moves to Canada , before they may becomes a Canadian Citizen they must Pledge their Allegiance to the Monarch ( Currently King Charles III ) . When a Child is born in Canada , they are born with an obligation of Loyalty to the Monarch . When you join His Majesty's Canadian Armed Forces you Re-Affirm you Loyalty to the Monarch with a New Oath of Allegiance to the King/Queen . When you Volunteer and are elected to Public office ( at any level of Government ie Federal , Provincial , Municipal ) you Re-Affirm you Loyalty to the Monarch with a New Oath of Allegiance to the King/Queen ( that includes every UCP MLA , Provincial Premiers , Mayors , P.M.'s etc etc ) . The Crown in Canada is the Embodiment of the Monarch at ALL TIMES and you must ACT accordingly .

Starting a Separatist movement from a perfectly good Conservative Provincial Party IS ILLEGAL. You must start out at a Separatist party so the Crown can recognize you as Enemy ( i.e. THE Bloc in Quebec ) . The Federal Government has the backing of the LAW and the CROWN to crush this , yet they don't ...that pisses me off . Why should any one else follow the Law if the Government refused to enforce it ? This is how this kind of crap spreads, the Crown allowed Quebec to run loose for years and now its moved onto Alberta . Treason against The Crown should be confronted with FORCE immediately do it wont spread . I will not apologies or feel bad for being a Loyal Canadian , i will stand and meet Treason where ever it raises its ugly head.

Have a good day , Cheers .

Hi Brian. Thanks for your service brother. However I do take issue with your repeated references to King Charles III as the literal Commander and Chief of the armed forces. As if he could order our service members to wage war at his discretion. This is not true. It is true that we are a parliamentary democracy. The Oath of allegiance is an oath to our system of gov’t which is symbolically represented by the King. So yes we are technically a constitutional monarchy but no one literally interprets it that way. The King is merely a personification of our parliamentary system of govt albeit dressed up as a constitutional monarchy such as it is.

Brian's avatar

Hey Sir , how's it going ? Hope all find's you well .

" However I do take issue with your repeated references to King Charles III as the literal Commander and Chief of the armed forces. As if he could order our service members to wage war at his discretion. This is not true " - Sir , not only is His Majesty the King the only one who can order us to Wage War , He's the only one who can Declare War on Behalf of Canada .

" the Oath of allegiance is an oath to our system of gov’t which is symbolically represented by the King. " - No Sir , its to our Monarch and all their Heirs in Perpetuity . It is meant and IS taken Literally. I Gave my Oath before God on the Bible to Her Majesty's Queen Elizabeth II and all her heirs . If our Monarch , for some crazy reason ( this would never happen god willing ) order His Armed Forces to remove the Government that 100 % what would happen . Our Monarch is the only one on Earth with the LEGAL right to remove the Canadian Government from Office and that's what happens every election . Parliament is dissolved By our Monarch and can ONLY be done with Royal Assent ( like EVERYTHING else in this country , the Monarch must agree ) .

Sir you are Free to take issue with this , that is your choice but if your " Taking Issue " with this turns from more then words into action then you will be on the wrong side of the Law . Freedom of speech is one thing , Freedom of action is another . NO ONE in this country has any LEGAL obligation to show ANY Loyalty to a democratically elected Government that switch's every four Years . EVERYONE is under a legal obligation to show Loyalty to our Monarch , if we like that or means nothing .

If the King Publicly exercises his Legal Rights in Canada it would 100 % cause a Constitutional Crisis , this would mean a chance ( a very small chance mind you ) of His Majesty losing His Realm of Canada . The only way to change any of this would be to dissolve ourselves as a Country and rip our Constitution and literally start from scratch with a different form of Government . This would immediately lead to a Civil War as Loyalist crushed the Rebels , let is pray that day never comes again ( it has happened before ) .

His Majesty's Canadian Armed Forces is 100% Loyalty to our Sovereign and i mean 100% , do not think otherwise .

I wish you a good day , Cheers .

We don’t own those targets, Lockheed Martin does. That is why range control would get so upset when the mechanical parts of the target was shot up.

Brian's avatar

I agree , i did state that in my Statement above " You are correct when you say they are Lockheed Martin Targets ". Your right about Range Control hating our guts over that lol . We would blow them Targets to hell lol , but they where always operated by Canadian Soldiers on a Live Fire Range . We used them for every work up Training before an Afghan Deployment , i never once seen a Lockheed Martin representative out in the Training Area let alone on a Live Fire Range .

Take a look at Cold Lake Air Weapons Range (CLAWR) and they have private oil companies operating facilities in the Range.

I don't think CFB Suffield has done open-air CBW testing in decades. Might even be banned by international treaty.

Brian's avatar

" Take a look at Cold Lake Air Weapons Range (CLAWR) and they have private oil companies operating facilities in the Range. " - I was not aware of that , that you very much for the information . Well i hope it is something as mundane as Oil production i highly doubt Noah who reports on the department of National Defence and National Security issues would be reporting on Oil production within DND jurisdiction but you never know . Personally i think its something much more ...How did Noah put it .."monumental " or " It is said that the agreement would be 'significant' by some. " . There is no positive or Negative context in how he worded this and given his reply to my first message i just have a feeling this is not something " Good " for Canada or the Province of Alberta in which it will be hosted .

" I don't think CFB Suffield has done open-air CBW testing in decades. Might even be banned by international treaty. " - Ya its been Illegal since The 1972/1975 Biological Weapons Convention under International Treaty . Yet Canada was caught doing it in the 90's and 2000's . I know for a fact it was still going on between 2006-2016 , i wont get into detail on that for reasons im sure you can understand . Do i know if its still going on right now today ? Nope but given what i just mentioned i dont see why we would have stopped . We have been violating the 1972/1975 Biological Weapons Convention since its inception . In fact a lot of our NATO Allies use CFB Suffield to test BCW on the low down in conjunction with the Canadian DND .That's a big positive for Canada in the Alliance given only 3 Countries in the world are known to allow it and Canada is the only one in NATO .

Have a good one , Cheers .

N. Q.'s avatar

Incorrect on RCAF front. Most important base by far is CFB Winnipeg. 1 CAD alone is more importsnt than Cold Lake, nevermind NORAD. Not trying to buy votes in Manitoba though haha.

JBoots's avatar

Valid point, I suppose I’m just focused on the two fighter bases.

N. Q.'s avatar

Two? There is only one. Cold Lake. AB has 3 proper Army bases; Edmonton, Wainwright and Suffield.

JBoots's avatar

I was referring to Cold Lake and Bagotville. I was thinking of them in my response to you. I wasn’t referring to Western Canada in my response.

Matthew Brown's avatar

Gee, I wonder if Albertans reading that people in other provinces think their elected provincial government should be killed, makes them feel more or less attached to Canada?

Brian's avatar

Any one who supports a Separatist Government , be that UCP in Alberta or the Bloc in Quebec is not a Canadian . They are a Seditious Traitor who stands against Canada , Canadians and His Majesty King Charles III . Now i understand how it can be a shit choice , when your only other Option is a Far Left NDP but there is No option when you look at it as a Separatist party vs a Canadian Party .

In case its not obvious I'm a Big C Traditional Canadian Imperial Nationalist United Empire Loyalist Conservative in the Following of past Prime Ministers such as :

Sir John A. Macdonald , Sir Robert Laird Borden , Arthur Meighen , Richard Bedford Bennett, 1st Viscount Bennett and John George Diefenbaker ( minus his failure on the Avro Arrow which i believe he should have been arrested and held accountable for but the rest of his policy's i agreed with almost 100 % ) . So i do understand the deep partisan reasons for NOT wanting to vote NDP but like i said , there is NO Option to vote for a UCP Separatist Party .

The UCP put themselves into this position , no once put a gun to their head and forced them into it . They took an Oath to the Crown and to the King when they Volunteered to Serve His Majesty's and the good people of Alberta . They have broke this oath and went against their word . They are enemy's of the Crown & Canada just like the Bloc . No one is asking the peoples opinion if they want to " attached to Canada " , it is not a choice or an option . Alberta ( like every other province ) is an Internal Form of Governance within Canada . Alberta like every other Western Province and territory was Created by the Crown and the Federal Canadian Government ( Alberta was created in1905 ) to uphold good peace and order in the Name of the King under the Federal Crown .

People are free to leave Canada any time they wish , Canada is not a Prison . However the idea that you think you can leave with even the Canadian Dirt on your boots is Sedition and Treason against the Crown . Not to mention the First Nations Treaties signed with the Crown we are Honour Bound to uphold at all cost ( does not matter if we want to , i want to or your want to ) these Treaties are older then the Province of Alberta . If you support any Separatist including the UCP you are a Separatist and should be treated as such and given the rope . I have nothing against the good people of Alberta who are Loyal Canadian and Loyal Subjects of his Majesty King Charles III , just the Traitors .

Have a good day , Cheers .

JBoots's avatar

This Albertan is fairly confident that Brian is just an immature nut bar who is not representative of the population as a whole. I do think the whole separation thing has been overblown in the media and as a result some people believe it is real. Separation is not something we talk about.

Brian's avatar

I would reference you to my reply above to Matthew Brown . Reading that will save us both time and keep me from repeating myself .

" This Albertan is fairly confident that Brian is just an immature nut bar who is not representative of the population as a whole.. " - Your a Free to have your opinion about me Sir . Just for your informtion i was born in 1988 , I spent Ten Years in Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II Canadian Armed Forces / Royal Canadian Infantry Core / 3rd Canadian Infantry Division / 2nd Bn Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry . I did 3 I.S.A.F. Afghan Combat Tours ( TF-1-08 , TF-3-09, TF-2-13 ) , i did 5 Domestic Deployments for Fires and Floods across Manitoba , Saskatchewan and Alberta . I did winter Olympic security Domestic Deployment before my second Afghan Tour in 09 . I lived all over this beautiful Country between 2006-2016 including in the Great Province of Alberta ( CFB Suffield & CFB Wainwright ) .

So thats why i agree with you when you say " Separation is not something we talk about in Alberta " I do believe the mass majority of the good people of Alberta a Loyalist Canadians , there is 0 doubt in my mind of this face and I'm not referring to the mass majority of Albertans , JUST the Separatist Traitors . I do not claim to speak for the whole population of Canada , nor do i live in a city so i cant tell you what them people think . This is can tell you , I'm a farmer who lives in the middle of nowhere. I'm a Big C Traditional Canadian Imperial Nationalist United Empire Loyalist Conservative who votes for the Christian Heritage Party ( since Mulroney ruined the Canadian Conservative party and turned them into a Centrist Republican lite party ) . Every Farmer i know in this Country feels the same way as i do about this , every Veteran i know feels the same way about this as i do , every Townie i know feels the same way about this as i do . We are waiting for the Good Loyal Canadian people of Alberta to clean this MESS up and we SURE AS HELL would like the Crown and Federal Government to help them out ASAP and STOP dicking around with the UCP Traitor Party . Same dam thing happens in Quebec with the Bloc , its disgusting and gives the good Loyal Canadians of Quebec a bad name like its doing to Alberta right now .

I wish you a good day , Cheers .

JBoots's avatar

Yeah, I was on 3-09 as well…. Perhaps all the veterans you know feel this way but none of the ones I know are concerned about separation. I do know a small number who support separation, why I don’t get but they do. Separation isn’t happening, you are getting all worked up about nothing. I’m glad we are having a referendum this about having a referendum on separation. It will allow us to put this silliness to bed.

Brian's avatar

Well shit buds , we had our blood in the same Mud , LDSH(rc) ? 1st Bn VP ? 1 C.E.R. ? or something else ?

" I’m glad we are having a referendum this about having a referendum on separation. It will allow us to put this silliness to bed." -Unfortunately i don't think it will go away , i hope it does but i have my doubts . Truthfully their is 10 % of every Province that wants to separate , always has been probably always will be . The Problem with Quebec and Now Alberta is people keep voting for them even if they are not separatist they like certain policy's or what not . Its disgusting from my point of view and i don't even think Separatist party's should be Legal for God sake but that's neither here nor there in this conversation .

Anyways i hope you and yours keep well and stay safe Brother , Cheers .

Of course each province is fighting for investment. For example, here is Ontario’s newly released defence industrial strategy.

https://news.ontario.ca/en/release/1007513/ontario-unveils-framework-for-defence-industrial-strategy

Brian's avatar

These Provinces need to be put in their Place and stay in their lane . Under the Canadian constitution, national defense is a federal responsibility. The Federal Crown needs to stop allowing these Provinces leeway because they keep pushing and pushing and they are way out of line once they get into our National Security apparatus.

Fraser Barnes's avatar

OK, I’ve said it elsewhere and I’ll say it again. I’m coming to the conclusion that provinces have outlived their usefulness. While the first few have partial entitlement to remain as provinces as they were when they originally joined Confederation, for the most part they joined with much smaller land masses. Of course Alberta, Saskatchewan and most of Manitoba were created by act of Canadian parliament, so they could be rescinded as provinces altogether. Provinces writ large are impediments to the national economy and our democracy by still enforcing trade barriers and diminishing our democratic rights and principles by using the Notwithstanding clause.

L. Brooks's avatar

Reference HDFM I'm glad that DND has decided to go with new MBTs and not waste billions on refurbished tanks.

Brian's avatar

I agree , i do think the Leo 2's should be Modernized and distributed to PRes Armored Calvary Units who are most likely be activated first as line units in case of a Large Scale Conflict ( King's Own out of Calgary , Fort Gary's Horse out of Winnipeg , The Governor General's Horse Guards out of Toronto , The Ontario Regiment out of Oshawa, The Royal Canadian Hussars out of Montreal and The Sherbrooke Fusilier out of Sherbrooke ) .

Each of these PRes Units should be outfitted with a Troop of 4 Leo 2's , a Troop of TapV's for Recon and a Troop of LAV 120 mm Mortar Carriers or Senator 81 mm Mortar Carriers. Especially if we are Sticking with the Germans for the HDFM . The Commonality in Training alone would be worth it .

N. Q.'s avatar

To what ends? Whats the doctrine? Leos will never be viable at the MO units, the Leos are hardly viable at the Strats right now theyre so old. Better to focus on a tailored light cav platform that meets the intent of ACRiB - something the TAPV could be useful for if its retrofitted.

JBoots's avatar

Agreed. I suppose that depending on what they get the current leopard 2 could serve some purpose though.
